The women & the children

Awareness & rallying

Firstly, the initial village meetings ahead of the construction of kindergartens meant a large group of people assembled to address the pre-school needs of children, creating a new awareness among some people around this issue.

Since 2009, the state is more involved and allocate specialist early childhood teachers, underlying the government’s growing interest in our projects.

Fewer domestic work for women and economic development

The care of children in the morning and the provision of lunch create extra time for mothers and allow them to engage in other work, such as market gardening or cottage industries. Incidentally, the university of Harvard has shown in a study over 25 countries that young women who have been raised by working mothers are most likely to find a job and have responsabilities.

Preparation for primary school

The children who go to kindergarten have already started their education path and have a better start in primary school.

Health and hygiene

The renovation of health centers, with new equipment, improves local healthcare services. The children’s attendance at kindergarten gives boosts measures to prevent diseases and illness, by allowing for the regular and through monitoring of the childrens’ health (vaccinations, nutrition, dental care). This occurs with the agreement of parents and as part of the overall health program for the village, which we are also involved in. We teach basic hygiene, which helps prevent avoidable diseases and infections.
